Biography

Miguel Centeno is the Musgrave Professor of Sociology and the Executive Vice-Dean of the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He has published numerous articles, chapters, and books, including notable works such as 'War Society' (Polity 2016), 'Global Capitalism' (Polity 2010), 'States in the Developing World' (Cambridge 2017), and 'State and Nation Making in the Iberian World' (Volumes I and II, Cambridge 2013, 2018). He is currently working on a new book project focused on the sociology discipline. Centeno founded the Research Community on Global Systemic Risk, funded by the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS) in 2013. He has served as Head of College, Founding Director of PIIRS, and Chair of the Sociology Department. Additionally, he founded the Princeton University Program for the Public (PUPP) in 2001 and the Princeton University Public Policy (PSP) initiative in 2019-20. His research interests include the impact of globalization and systemic risk on society.
