Dr. Miguel De Carvalho

Biography

Joining the University of Edinburgh, Miguel de Carvalho has held research and teaching positions at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Banco de Portugal, and Universidade Nova de Lisboa. His research interests cover a variety of topics within applied mathematical statistics, including statistical inferences for small-probability events, geometrical statistics, methods for data visualization, graphical learning, econometrics, and medical diagnostic assessment. Throughout his career, he has contributed as an Associate Editor for prestigious journals such as the Journal of the American Statistical Association and Annals of Applied Statistics, and has been involved in professional activities that shape the field of statistical science.
