Dr. Miguel Pereira

Biography

Miguel Pereira is an Assistant Professor in European Politics. His research focuses on inequalities, political representation, behavior of political elites, and established democracies, with an emphasis on causal inference. He is particularly interested in questions surrounding women in politics, corruption, policy diffusion, and attitude formation. Miguel is the founder and co-director of the Local Governance Observatory, an organization that collaborates with public officials across Europe to address local governance challenges and enhance the connection between voters and their representatives. He has published works in prestigious journals including the American Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, British Journal of Political Science, and Comparative Political Studies. Prior to his current position at LSE, Miguel served as an assistant professor at the University of Southern California. He received his Ph.D. in political science from Washington University in St. Louis.
