Biography

Miguel Rodrigues is a Full Professor at University College London (UCL), where he leads the Information, Inference and Machine Learning Lab. He is the founding director of the master's program in Integrated Machine Learning Systems at UCL and serves as a Turing Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute, the UK’s National Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. His academic lineage includes positions at prestigious institutions such as Cambridge University, Princeton University, Duke University, and the University of Porto in Portugal. Rodrigues holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Porto and a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from UCL. His research spans the areas of information theory, information processing, and machine learning. He has attracted over £5 million in funding from national and international sources and authored more than 250 publications, achieving over 8000 citations in leading journals and conferences, including top artificial intelligence venues like NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR. Rodrigues has served as an editor for various IEEE publications and has been actively involved in technical committees for IEEE conferences. He also provides consultancy in machine learning and AI technologies for government bodies, funding agencies, and industry.
