Biography

Miha Brebenel is a Senior Lecturer in Digital Culture at the Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton. His research interests encompass collaborative practices and the histories of herbalism and socialism, particularly focusing on Eastern Europe and the Baltic regions. He has undertaken AHRC-funded PhD research carried out in the Media Communications department at Goldsmiths, University of London, where he concentrated on moving images and media technology within the context of contemporary Romanian critical art practices. Miha is actively engaged in research that highlights the intersection of histories related to herbalism and socialism and is particularly interested in how these areas can be explored through the lenses of queer and disability studies. He has been involved in various teaching roles since 2013, including previous positions as a Visiting Lecturer in Screen Histories at the University of Brighton and an Associate Lecturer at Goldsmiths. His current teaching includes contributions to the Global Media Management Programme and the MA Option Module on Digital Cultures. Miha is also keen on mentoring PhD students and encouraging new research endeavors within his field.
