Dr. Mihaela Aslan

Biography

Mihaela Aslan, Ph.D., is a graduate of the Department of Statistics at Yale University, where she has spent 23 years contributing to the field of General Medicine as a Research Scientist. A mathematical statistician by training, she conducts methodological research across a range of topics including growth mixture models, competing risks methods in survival analysis, and observational methods that emulate randomized clinical trials. Dr. Aslan's major methodological focus includes multi-site observational study design. The representative studies she has conducted address significant clinical topics such as prostate cancer, post-traumatic stress disorder, suicidal ideation in patients with severe mental illness, Gulf War syndrome, and prediabetes. Currently, she serves as the Director of the Clinical Epidemiology Research Center (CERC) at the Veterans Health Administration, where her goals are to advance scientific knowledge, train the next generation of analysts in applied clinical epidemiology methods, and enhance the translation and implementation of research results into clinical practice to benefit veterans and the broader community.
