Biography

Mihailo R. Jovanovic is a professor in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the founding director of the Center for Systems and Control at the University of Southern California. He received his Diploma and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, in 1995 and 1998 respectively, and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2004 under the direction of Bassam Bamieh. Jovanovic has served as a visiting researcher in the Department of Mechanics at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, and has been a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Minnesota. His research encompasses modeling, dynamics, and control of large-scale distributed systems, with a focus on distributed optimization and control architectures. Jovanovic is an Associate Editor for several prestigious journals and has received numerous awards, including the CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation and Fellow status from the American Physical Society and IEEE.
