Biography

Mihkel Tombak is a Professor and HATCH Chair in Technology Management Strategy. His research interests encompass industrial organization economics, technological innovations, technology strategy, competition policy, and financial economics. He has published articles in prominent journals such as the Economic Journal, Journal of Industrial Economics, International Journal of Industrial Organization, and Management Science. Tombak has an extensive academic background, having earned a Ph.D. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1988. He started his academic pursuits with a B.A.Sc. engineering degree from the University of Toronto in 1981, followed by an M.B.A. from York University in 1984. He has served as the founding Director of the Master of Management of Innovation program and has held affiliate professorship at the European School of Management and Technology in Berlin. He has also served in various visiting positions at institutions such as Northwestern University and the University of Waterloo and has consulted for several organizations, including the World Bank and Canada Post.
