Mikael Östling received his MSc degree in Engineering Physics in 1980 and his PhD degree from Uppsala University, Sweden in 1983. He has been a faculty member at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, working primarily in the field of solid state electronics. From 2017 to 2022, he served as the Deputy President of KTH. He has supervised over 50 PhD theses and has authored one textbook, more than 10 book chapters, and over 600 scientific papers published in international journals and conferences. Östling has also been an editor for IEEE Electron Device Letters and served as editor-in-chief for the IEEE Journal of Electron Devices Society.
