Biography

Mike Jones is a postdoctoral research fellow with a background in art history and over fifteen years of experience in the GLAM sector (galleries, libraries, archives, museums). He completed his PhD in History at the University of Melbourne's School of Historical and Philosophical Studies in December 2018, with a thesis titled 'Documenting Artefacts Archives Relational Museum'. This interdisciplinary research examines the history of computerisation in museums and the interconnectedness of archives and museum collections. From July 2019 to February 2023, he worked at the Australian National University on the Kathleen Fitzpatrick Laureate Program, 'Rediscovering Deep Human Past', focusing on Australia’s pre-1788 history and Indigenous narratives in combination with new scientific evidence. Mike holds an honorary position at the Research Centre for Deep History and continues to collaborate with colleagues at ANU.
