Michael Kriele received a Bachelor of Science degree in Creative Technology from the University of Twente, Netherlands in 2014. He proceeded with a double-degree Master’s program in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, gaining practical experience through an RF-engineer internship at the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy in Australia. In January 2018, he obtained simultaneous MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, specializing in telecommunication engineering and wireless sensor systems. Kriele completed his Doctorate at the Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands, as part of a joint PhD appointment with Curtin University. His thesis focused on high precision mapping of diffuse low-frequency skies using spherical harmonic transit interferometry. Since September 2023, he has been a Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia, leading the SKA Synchronisation Timing Team as part of the Astrophotonics group, responsible for designing a frequency dissemination system for the SKA-Mid telescope array and managing quality assurance aspects of the TeraNet Ground Station Network. His research focuses on radio astronomy, telecommunications, and cosmology, drawing insights from both theoretical and practical engineering backgrounds.
