Dr. Mike Mcshane

Biography

Mike McShane is a Professor and Department Head of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds the James J. Cain Professorship II and has served as affiliated faculty in the Materials Science and Engineering department. His academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1999. McShane's research interests encompass a diverse array of topics within biomedical engineering, including bioinstrumentation, biomaterials, biomedical optics, biotransport, biosensors, medical device design, micro/nanotechnology, molecular biology, point-of-care technology, and signal processing. He has achieved significant recognition in his field, being appointed as a fellow in several prestigious societies such as the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers, the Biomedical Engineering Society, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Furthermore, he has received awards like the Technical Achievement Award from the IEEE Sensors Council in 2023, showcasing his profound impact on sensor technology.
