Biography
Mike Roberts is a Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, specializing in Renewable Energy Engineering. He completed his PhD in Renewable Energy Engineering at UNSW Sydney in 2019. Prior to that, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics with First Class Honors from the University of Manchester in 1987 and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1989. His research focuses on increasing the deployment and integration of distributed renewable energy generation into the electricity system. This includes technical economic data analysis, user research, and policy approaches for a user-centered energy transition. His particular interests are in distributed photovoltaics, demand response, home energy management, community energy storage, Virtual Power Plants, embedded networks, mini-grids, solar potential assessment, electric vehicles, and energy resilience.
