Biography

Mike Seiferling's work combines academic research with extensive engagement with policymakers around the globe. His research focuses on the links between macroeconomics, finance, accounting, and political science, and has been published in a range of journals across these disciplines. He emphasizes themes of financial transparency, public finance management, and statistics. His research is partly informed by, and motivates his work with, international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, United Nations, and Asian Development Bank, as well as private sector entities, focusing on improving financial literacy, debt management, and public finance management. Mike has had the opportunity to work with central banks and ministries of finance in over sixty countries across five continents. Currently, he serves as a member of the IMF Government Finance Statistics Manual update committee, where he addresses issues related to debt and monetary topics, and he regularly lectures at Her Majesty's Treasury. Previously, he worked as a visiting professor at Sciences Po in Paris and the IMF in Washington, where he acted as Director of Research investigating the future of money, funded by a grant from the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and IE University in Madrid.
