Dr. Mike Strivens

Biography

Mike Strivens joined the Accounting and Finance Division of Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester as a Senior Fellow in Finance in 2006, where he is responsible for management development and the division's research-led executive teaching commitments at the Business School. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in management accounting, financial reporting, and corporate finance, and also runs workshops on financial statement analysis and firm valuation. Mike has taught corporate finance to numerous executive education courses for FTSE 100 companies. His PhD research examined the influence of institutional investors and large block holdings on corporate governance in UK firms, focusing on executive remuneration and CEO turnover, particularly in response to poor firm performance. His areas of academic expertise include corporate governance, financial reporting, accountability, and corporate finance. Before joining the University, Mike spent 20 years in management consultancy, including 14 years at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting, working on a wide range of assignments.
