Biography

Dr. Wei was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at Stanford University and earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. Unable to stay far from the Bay Area, he returned to Stanford to complete his residency in internal medicine and subsequently his fellowship in gastroenterology. Dr. Wei has specific interests in colorectal cancer, Barrett’s esophagus surveillance, and reflux diagnosis and management. He is particularly focused on endoscopic resection of large polyps and received training under Dr. Shai Friedland, a world expert in this field. Dr. Wei's work involves evaluating new tools and technologies for gastrointestinal cancer surveillance and management, including running trials on endoscopic management of polyps and evaluating artificial intelligence applications in gastroenterology. His research has been published in prestigious journals such as the American Journal of Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He was formerly an Associate Editor for the ACG Case Report Journal and is on the Board of the Northern California Society of Clinical Gastroenterology. Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Wei enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and exploring new restaurants.
