Biography

Mikela led pioneering research industry projects in construction, transportation, and healthcare, uniquely positioning her with both academic and industrial expertise. Over the past fifteen years, she has successfully secured and managed more than 25 research commercial projects across various sectors in multiple countries, amounting to significant funding. She holds a PhD in Socio-Technical Systems Safety and Human Cognition, an MSc in Systems Engineering Management, and an MEng in Manufacturing Engineering Management. Currently, she serves as a full professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at University College London, and is a member of the Department of Transport's College of Experts and the Health and Safety Executive's Science Quality Assurance Group. Her scholarly contributions include books on Project Risk Management and Systems Safety, along with over 60 peer-reviewed papers in leading international journals and conferences.
