Biography

Mikey Jose uniquely traverses seemingly opposing yet inherently intertwined realms of art and science in the pursuit of understanding and validating the power of music in relation to science and medicine. As a PhD Candidate in Neuroscience, Mikey explores the intersection of music-based therapy approaches and brain health outcomes for people with Parkinson’s Disease. He has received opportunities to share his passion as a TEDx speaker and as an invited panelist and presenter internationally, and he is a Co-Founder of the UBC Brain Music group. Beginning his teaching career in 2022, Mikey has served undergraduate students at UBC and Corpus Christi College as an Adjunct/Sessional Lecturer teaching PSYC 101 and 102. In the classroom, Mikey is also a musical artist who has garnered 6 million streams across 175+ countries. His artistic and academic pursuits aim to validate the power of music to unify and uplift underrepresented voices while facilitating improved health outcomes.
