Dr. Miki Turner

Biography

Miki Turner is an award-winning journalist and author, with a successful career in the media industry, dedicated to shaping the future of aspiring journalists at USC Annenberg. As the founder of the Annenberg Cross-Cultural Student Association and the director for the university-wide Minority Serving Institution Graduate School Recruitment effort, she actively promotes diversity and inclusion within the academic environment. Her expertise encompasses various fields including Arts and Culture, Digital Media, Diversity and Inclusion, Entertainment, Ethics, Marketing, Popular Culture, Race and Ethnicity, Social Justice, and Sports Research. Turner has held notable positions at ESPN, NFL Network, MSNBC, AOL, and BET, and is committed to mentoring students through programs like ARM (Annenberg Resources Mentoring). She teaches courses on photojournalism, sports commentary, and digital storytelling, and has played a significant role in the development of the sports curriculum at USC Annenberg. A regular columnist for major publications, Turner has been recognized for her contributions to journalism, including honors such as the Wyoming High School Distinguished Alumni Award (2024) and the NABJ Educator of the Year (2022). Her photography has been featured in exhibitions across various locations, including Los Angeles and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Turner's works include books that emphasize her journey and love for journalism.
