Professor Dr. Mikko Lipasti

Biography

For the past 25 years, Mikko Lipasti has engaged his research group, known as the PHARM Team, in a broad range of research topics related to providing performance, lower power, and higher reliability computing systems and processing cores. His work has led to the publication of over 100 research papers and has overseen the completion of 27 Ph.D. theses and numerous M.S. projects. Mikko's research has attracted generous support from industrial partners such as Qualcomm, Oracle, Google, Nokia, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, and IBM, as well as federal funding from the National Science Foundation. His expertise lies particularly in computer systems architecture, focusing on advancements in performance and reliability while also reducing power consumption. Mikko is retired from the University of Wisconsin as of July 2024, and additional information about his past research activities can be found on his group's website.
