Professor Dr. Mikolaj Schmidt

Biography

Mikolaj Schmidt is an Adjunct Fellow at Macquarie University, specializing in the development of theory related to new sources of high-frequency acoustic waves and single-phonon emitters. His research interests lie at the intersection of classical and quantum approaches to the interaction of light and matter at the nanoscale. With a PhD in Physics from the University of the Basque Country, Schmidt has extensive experience in various aspects of photonics and quantum science, including energy transfer enhancement due to exciton-plasmon interactions in photosynthetic complexes. Over the years, he has contributed to a number of research outputs across multiple years, with activities that include projects in quantum sound, topological photonics, and quantum optoacoustics. Mikolaj has been recognized for his research leadership and contributions to the field through several accolades from Macquarie University, including the Faculty of Science and Engineering Research Leadership Award.
