Milagros Ponce de León is an Associate Professor of Scenic Design and the Head of the B.F.A. Program in Theatre Design & Technology at Penn State University. She holds a BFA degree in Drawing and Painting from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, along with MFA degrees in Studio Arts and Scenic Design from the University of Maryland at College Park. Her recent scenic design work includes credits for Disney's Moana and the Lehman Trilogy at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre in Florida. Milagros has designed for several renowned theatres, including Ford’s Theatre, Olney Theatre Center, Round House Theatre, and the Kennedy Center. Her contributions to the field have earned her five nominations for the Helen Hayes Awards for Outstanding Scenic Design in the Washington, D.C. area. In addition to her academic role, she is a member of United Scenic Artists Local-829 and an Associate Artist at Ford’s Theatre. Milagros is also involved in bringing theatrical magic to projects such as the Disney Treasure cruise ship.
