Biography

Milena Radoman is a neuroscientist whose work focuses on the interplay between substance misuse and co-occurring psychiatric and physical conditions, particularly chronic pain. Her current research employs a variety of behavioral, psychophysiological, and neuroimaging approaches to examine how the brain responds to uncertainty and its links to negative affect, alcohol use disorder, and pain. Milena earned her B.A. in Neuroscience from Wellesley College and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Following her doctoral work, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Yale Stress Center under the mentorship of Dr. Rajita Sinha, where she is set to be awarded the prestigious NIH/NIAAA Pathway Independence Award (K99/R00) in 2025, aimed at establishing an independent research program focused on alcohol use disorder and chronic pain. Her work has been published in leading journals such as the American Journal of Psychiatry, Neuropsychopharmacology, and Addiction Biology. Milena has also delivered invited talks at various national and international conferences, underscoring her contribution to the field. Currently, she is seeking undergraduate and post-baccalaureate interns to join her newly funded research project.
