Biography

Milena Tsvetkova is an Associate Professor in the Department of Methodology at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her work is interdisciplinary, combining theories and methods from sociology, social psychology, behavioral economics, network science, and computer science. Milena collaborated with experts from various fields including computer scientists, physicists, philosophers, management scholars, mathematicians, and ecologists. She completed her PhD in Sociology at Cornell University in 2015 and prior to joining LSE in 2017, she was a postdoctoral researcher in Computational Social Science at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. Her research interests are focused on computational and experimental social science, particularly examining human-machine interactions, including the ways these interactions affect collective outcomes such as coordination, cooperation, and social contagion. Milena leads an interdisciplinary research team at the HUMANET Lab, which is funded by a €2 million ERC Consolidator grant, investigating networks and communities that comprise humans and intelligent machines.
