I am a neuroanesthesiologist and translational human neuroscientist, focused on optimizing anesthesia care and postoperative cognitive outcomes in older surgical patients. My research team investigates the mechanisms of perioperative neurocognitive disorders, such as delirium in older adults, and explores the relationship between anesthetic brain sensitivity and preclinical age-related changes in brain structure and function. We study how the APOE4 allele increases the risk of Alzheimer's Disease and neurocognitive decline. Using a transdisciplinary approach, we combine molecular and cellular assays with advanced neuroimaging techniques and cognitive testing to obtain insights into the mechanisms of these disorders. My group values mentorship and is open to discussions with prospective undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students interested in our work.
The Computer Science department emphasizes research potential. GRE General is currently optional but recommended for some tracks.
