Dr. Miltos Pechlivanos

Biography

Miltos Pechlivanos is a Professor of Modern Greek Studies at the Free University of Berlin since October 2007. He has held various academic roles, including a position as a lecturer in Comparative Literature at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki and represented the Chair of Modern Greek Studies at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich during the winter semester of 2003–2004. His academic background includes a doctorate obtained in January 1999, focusing on discourses of modernity before the Greek nation-state. Pechlivanos has carried out various research projects and has been engaged in significant academic discussions related to early modern Greek cultural history, the reception of antiquities, and the socio-political dimensions of literature. He has published extensively, including works on Greek Enlightenment, cultural transfer between Germany and Greece, and the history of reading in Greek society. His editorial contributions include volumes on Greek literature and intercultural studies. Pechlivanos is also involved in freelance translation and publishing activities.
