Dr. Mim Ari

Biography

Mim Ari, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago. As a board-certified general internist specializing in addiction medicine, Dr. Ari manages chronic diseases and acute issues while providing preventive care across the spectrum of adult general internal medicine. He is dedicated to integrating substance use disorder screening and treatment within primary care settings and is committed to creating high-quality ambulatory experiences for trainees. Dr. Ari's clinical interests include addictive disorders and behavioral medicine, particularly focusing on care for sexual and gender minorities as well as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention. He actively contributes to educational programs and workshops aimed at improving knowledge and practices in opioid use disorder care for older adults and is involved in research addressing nonpharmaceutical fentanyl harm reduction. Through his work, Dr. Ari aims to enhance the understanding of substance use disorders and their management in diverse patient populations.
