Biography

Minah Kim, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Kim completed her doctorate in Biology at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) under the mentorship of Dr. Gou Young Koh. She further pursued postdoctoral training in the lab of Dr. Donald McDonald at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Kim's research focuses on understanding the role of vascular destabilization in facilitating distant metastasis and the development of resistance to anti-angiogenic therapy. Additionally, she investigates the vascular-immune crosstalk to comprehend how vascular regulation affects the immune microenvironment and its responsiveness to immunotherapies. Her lab's primary focus includes unraveling effective strategies to delay metastatic progression by modulating the tumor microenvironment, particularly through targeting tumor vasculature and understanding the mechanisms of T-cell exclusion and tumor immune suppression. Dr. Kim also explores the contributions of blood-brain barrier disruption to the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.
