Dr. Mine Orlu

Biography

Mine Orlu is a Professor of Pharmaceutics at University College London, focusing on the development of advanced drug delivery systems with a strong emphasis on improving therapeutic outcomes for special patient populations. Her research team utilizes transformative pharmaceutical digital technologies to tailor therapies to individuals, currently leading projects that employ customized 3D printing and machine learning to personalize dosing and predict performance in patient-centric drug delivery systems. Orlu earned her Pharmacy degree at Istanbul University, followed by a Master's degree in 2003 on colon-targeted microspheres and a PhD in 2008 focusing on the interaction of fluorescent labeled nanoparticles with lung cells. Her academic journey includes a post-doctoral tenure at University's School of Pharmacy from 2008 to 2012, leading to her appointment first as a Lecturer in 2012 and later as an Associate Professor in 2018. Orlu has served in various institutional roles, including co-chairing the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and leading educational initiatives. She is actively engaged in the academic community as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology and is a recognized member of the World Economic Forum's Young Scientists. Orlu continues to push the boundaries in the field of Pharmaceutics with impactful research and contributions.
