Biography

Ming Boyer is a Research Associate in the Department of Communication Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research focuses on how citizens' group identities influence the selection, processing, and creation of political communication. Currently, he is working on a project funded by an NWO Veni grant that investigates how dominant and marginalized groups communicate differently. Previously, Ming was a postdoctoral researcher on the ERC project DeVOTE, which conducted a comprehensive study on the meanings of voting for ordinary citizens. His PhD project examined how citizens process political information in relation to political parties' ideologies and their own group identities. Ming graduated with distinction from the University of Vienna in 2021.
