Biography

Ming Chapman is a Distinguished Service Professor of Design at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business. A Taiwanese-British designer and educator, Chapman has over 20 years of experience leading design teams on transformative projects for brands like JPMorgan, Puma, and Body Shop, as well as cultural organizations and NGOs such as the London Design Festival and UN Volunteer Service. Chapman is a dedicated educator, teaching design and business at both undergraduate and graduate levels across multiple continents and advising numerous graduate thesis projects. He played a key role in developing a graduate program in Art, Design & Media for underrepresented communities in the UK and has served as Program Director, building a dedicated faculty team. As a sought-after speaker and workshop leader, Chapman has worked with design schools worldwide, including MIT and the Royal College of Art. His research centers on design, worldview, and social ecological justice, focusing on unlocking equitable futures for communities and organizations through design challenges. He is currently featured in Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business Executive Education program, where he teaches Design Thinking and AI.
