Biography

Mingfang Su graduated from the department of oral medicine at the former Shanghai Second Medical School in 1977. Following graduation, he worked in the department of stomatology at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital. In 1982, he enrolled as a graduate student under esteemed professors in Chinese oral surgery. By 1984, he pursued studies in clinical periodontology at Boston University and the Mayo Clinic, obtaining his periodontics specialist diploma and practicing license in the United States in 1989. He has dedicated his career to teaching periodontics and implant dentistry at Boston University's Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he supervises post-doctorate students. Dr. Su holds 36 years of clinical experience and is recognized as a senior clinical professor. In recent decades, he has focused on research in clinical periodontal disease and oral implantology, and has contributed to editing and writing textbooks on periodontal and implant operations, training senior professionals in the field. His expertise has led him to give well-received presentations at international conferences, including the Oral Implant Annual Meeting in China. He has been awarded the Educator Award from the American Academy of Periodontology in 2012, and the Excellence in Teaching Award from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in both 2002 and 2005.
