Biography

Mingzhi Liu is a Professor at the I.H. Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba since July 2011. He earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, Canada. He also holds an MPhil degree from Lingnan University in Hong Kong and a Bachelor's degree from Xiamen University in China. Mingzhi Liu has received several prominent awards, including Social Sciences Humanities Research Council Insight Grants, Chartered Professional Accountants Research Fellowship, and the University of Manitoba Faculty Associate Merit Award. His work has been published in refereed journals such as ABACUS and the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy. He has a keen interest in corporate sustainability, family business, and financial reporting, as well as teaching financial accounting theory. Liu is an avid sports fan, particularly of soccer and track & field, and he is a finisher of the Manitoba full-marathon.
