Biography

Mira Sievers is a Professor of Islamic Theology and the managing director of the Academy of World Religions at the University of Hamburg. She studied Islamic studies, Islamic sciences, and linguistics at Goethe University Frankfurt and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, with language stays in Beirut, Cairo, and Istanbul. In 2018, she obtained her doctorate from Goethe University Frankfurt and later worked there as a research associate. From 2020 to 2024, she held the junior professorship for Islamic Foundations of Belief, Philosophy, and Ethics at Humboldt University of Berlin. Additionally, she was a Senior Fellow at the University of Graz in 2023 and 2024, and will serve as a Visiting Scholar at the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies in Amman, Jordan, during the winter semester of 2024/2025. Her research interests include the Quran, Kalām, and Islamic ethics, with a particular focus on gender-related and interreligious issues.
