Biography

Miranda Fidler-Benaoudia is a clinical descriptive cancer epidemiologist in the Department of Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research at Alberta Health Services and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Calgary. Her research focuses on improving care and outcomes for survivors of childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer. She is involved in studies that comprehensively describe cancer indicators at national, regional, and global levels. Fidler-Benaoudia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences - Public Health from Boston University, her Master's in Social Epidemiology from University College London, and a PhD in Cancer Epidemiology from the University of Birmingham. Her doctoral research utilized large-scale studies to evaluate late effects in cancer survivors diagnosed before age 40. Following her PhD, she worked with the International Agency for Research on Cancer, leading research on the burden of cancer according to human development levels. Fidler-Benaoudia currently conducts research on health outcomes in adolescent and young adult cancer survivors through initiatives like the Alberta Adolescent Young Adult Cancer Survivor Study and the AYA-PACT study, which examines physical activity interventions for this population.
