Biography

Prof. Miranda Schreurs holds the Chair in Climate Environmental Policy at the Bavarian School of Public Policy, Technical University of Munich. Her research focuses on comparative international environmental movements, green politics, and climate policy making. Schreurs has resided and conducted research across Europe, the United States, and Asia, with a specialization in the politics surrounding the disposal of highly radioactive waste. In 2011, she was appointed by Chancellor Angela Merkel to the Ethics Committee on Secure Energy Supply. In 2016, she joined the German Bundestag committee established to ensure citizens' voices in the search for disposal sites of highly radioactive waste. Schreurs was a member of the German Council for the Environment from 2008 to 2016 and has served as Vice Chair and Chair of the European Advisory Council on Environment and Sustainable Development. She is a Fulbright Fellow and has spent years studying at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Furthermore, she has held positions as a professor in comparative politics at the University of Maryland and has been the director of the Environmental Policy Research Center while being a professor at the Free University of Berlin.
