Professor Grigoriu received his doctoral degree in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and holds a degree in civil engineering mathematics from the Institute of Civil Engineering and the University of Bucharest, Romania. His significant contributions to research and education have been recognized through multiple awards, including the IASSAR Research Prize in 1993, the SAE Distinguished Probabilistic Methods Education Award in 1998, and the Norman Medal from ASCE in 2005. He has served on the editorial boards of several prestigious journals and was the past Editor in Chief of the Journal of Engineering Mechanics.
