Biography

Professor Grigoriu received his doctoral degree in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and holds a degree in civil engineering mathematics from the Institute of Civil Engineering and the University of Bucharest, Romania. His research interests include random vibration, stochastic calculus, numerical methods for solving stochastic problems, probabilistic models of microstructures, wind and earthquake engineering, climate models, and Monte Carlo simulation. He is the author of 200 papers in referred journals and co-author of the book on random vibration. Additionally, he has written books on non-Gaussian processes, stochastic calculus, and stochastic systems. His significant contributions to research and education have been recognized through multiple awards, including the IASSAR Research Prize in 1993, the SAE Distinguished Probabilistic Methods Education Award in 1998, and the Norman Medal from ASCE in 2005. He has served on the editorial boards of several prestigious journals and was the past Editor in Chief of the Journal of Engineering Mechanics.
