Biography

Mircea Lazar is an Associate Professor in the Control Systems group at the Electrical Engineering Faculty of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His areas of expertise include measurement and control engineering. His research interests encompass stability analysis and control of complex interconnected systems, including power systems, water networks, communication networks, vehicles platoons, and biological networks. His research deals with aspects of constrained control, model predictive control, and nonlinear hybrid systems using control Lyapunov functions and set-theoretic methods. He has worked in various application domains such as high-precision mechatronics, automotive control systems, biomedical systems, smart grids, smart buildings, temperature and illumination control, and power converters. He has collaborated with companies including ASML, DAF, TENNET, Prodrive, Philips Research, and IBM Precision Engineering. His current research is focused on the stability and control of complex interconnected systems motivated by the interconnection of smart engineering systems in the Internet of Things.
