I am an Assistant Professor at Concordia University in the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, focusing on deep learning and sequence processing with an emphasis on Conversational AI. Following my post-doc research at Mila under the supervision of Turing Award professor Yoshua Bengio, I received my PhD with cum laude distinction from the University of Trento in December 2017, working with the Bruno Kessler Foundation on deep learning for speech recognition. I have authored and co-authored over 60 papers in the fields of deep learning, conversational AI, and EEG signal processing, and am also an adjunct professor at Université de Montréal's Department of Computer Science and Operational Research. I lead the SpeechBrain project, which aims to develop an innovative open-source speech processing toolkit, which has become well-regarded in the speech deep learning communities. My current research interests include cooperative deep learning, self-supervised learning, and the development of novel neural models for sequence processing. I am heavily involved in teaching machine learning courses to both graduate and undergraduate students.
