Biography

Mireille van Eechoud is the Dean of the Amsterdam Law School at the University of Amsterdam and holds a faculty chair in Information Law. Her research focuses on the development of international and European intellectual property rights, with a particular emphasis on copyright and database law. She also examines emerging European norms concerning freedom of information, access to public sector information, open data, and open science, as well as the private international law aspects of information law. Van Eechoud is actively involved in various committees, including serving as a chair for the Dutch Minister of Justice's Advisory Committee on Copyright and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Association Littéraire et Artistique Internationale (ALAI). In addition to her administrative roles, she teaches courses in the LLM program in Information Law and coordinates the bachelor's course in Information Law.
