Dr. Miriam Anderson

Biography

Miriam Anderson is a Professor of Global Politics at Toronto Metropolitan University. She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge in Politics and International Studies and has a Master’s in Political Science and a Bachelor’s in International Relations from the University of British Columbia. Over the past fifteen years, Dr. Anderson has distinguished herself as a global leader in the involvement of women in peace processes within post-war political contexts, conducting field research in countries such as Burundi, Kenya, Northern Ireland, and Rwanda. She is currently authoring a manuscript focused on women's politics in exile. Dr. Anderson’s notable publications include 'Windows of Opportunity: Women Seize Peace Negotiations' (Oxford University Press, 2016) and the co-edited volume 'Transnational Actors in War and Peace' (Georgetown University Press, 2017). Her research has appeared in various journals and edited volumes, including the International Studies Review and Politics & Gender. She has held visiting scholar positions at prestigious institutions and has contributed to various research networks focused on women, peace, and security. Her teaching primarily covers international relations and qualitative research methods, particularly related to women's roles in international security.
