Dr. Miriam Koning

Biography

Miriam Koning is an Associate Professor at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her research focuses on international accounting issues, particularly the impact of standards and institutions such as financial regulators, standard setters, business press, auditors, and analysts on corporate disclosure decisions and financial market participants. Her work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies and Abacus: A Journal of Accounting, Finance and Business Studies. She is an associate member of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). Miriam teaches courses in accounting and financial reporting at both bachelor’s and master’s levels, including the core MScBA Accounting and Financial Management and a part-time MSc Management program. Her educational approach is characterized by a blended pedagogical strategy, incorporating lecture-based instruction, problem-based learning (PBL), and technology-enhanced learning, alongside in-class interactive discussions. Before joining RSM, she worked in international assurance services at Ernst & Young.
