Miriam Rose has been a Professor of Systematic Theology / Dogmatics at the Theological Faculty of the University of Basel since August 2024. Her research interests focus on contemporary issues, process theology, the relationship between art and religion, and ecumenism. She studied Protestant theology in Munich, Heidelberg, Jerusalem, and Berlin from 1992 to 1998. After her studies, she worked for a year in Glasgow at an institution for deafblind youth (Sense Scotland). Her dissertation, which explored the relationship between faith and love in Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologiae, was supervised by Prof. Gunther Wenz at the Evangelical-Theological Faculty in Munich. During her time there and until the completion of her habilitation, she served as a research assistant in the Chair of Fundamental Theology and Ecumenism under Prof. Wenz. Her habilitation focused on the state doctrine of Friedrich Schleiermacher (2009). Following a temporary position at the University of Essen (2010/11), she accepted a position at the University of Jena in the Chair of Systematic Theology. Additionally, she completed supplementary training in logotherapy based on Viktor Frankl and in process-oriented writing coaching. Her church and ecumenical interests were solidified as president of the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe from 2018 to 2024, and through participation in various Ecumenical committees and working groups. In 2021, she co-founded the Working Group for American Theology. She is a member of the Theological Working Group Pfullingen, the Working Group for Constructive Dogmatics, and the Scientific Society for Theology.
