Dr. Miriam Treggiari

Biography

Miriam Treggiari is a distinguished professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University. She holds the Paul G. Barash Distinguished Professorship and has a significant background in critical care medicine. Dr. Treggiari completed her Medical Degree at the University of Pavia in Italy, followed by a residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in critical care medicine, both at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. Her research interests include the activation of complement in cerebrospinal fluid as it relates to delirium and long-term cognitive impairment in post-intensive care unit patients. Dr. Treggiari is also engaged in research focusing on sepsis detection and classification through the use of tensor methods applied to electronic health records. She has been awarded multiple grants from esteemed institutions such as the National Institutes of Health and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute for her innovative work in improving patient outcomes during surgical procedures.
