Mirkamran Huseynli is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Political Science at Vytautas Magnus University and a Swiss Government Excellence Research Fellow at ISEK-Social Cultural Anthropology University of Zurich. Mirkamran has conducted semi-structured interviews with opposition politicians, civil society activists, and ethnic minority members to evaluate the reciprocity between state narratives and societal responses. He seeks to elucidate the factors that shape the nationalization and homogenization of Azerbaijani society in the post-Soviet period, particularly concerning ethnic minorities. Furthermore, he aims to advance the understanding of nation(alizing)-state concepts, national minorities, and external national homelands through ethnographic research.
