Biography

Professor Salewski works on developing fusion energy as a future energy source. His research encompasses the measurement of energetic particles in fusion plasmas and advanced tomography techniques, focusing particularly on velocity-space and phase-space analyses. He is involved in developing neural network methodologies and physics-informed prior information for orbit tomography and regularization techniques. His experience includes working with various tokamaks such as JET, ASDEX Upgrade, DIII-D, and more, employing diagnostic methods including fast-ion D-alpha spectroscopy and neutron emission spectrometry. As an ITER Scientist Fellow, he chairs the ITPA Topical Group on Energetic Particle Physics and is dedicated to global research efforts supporting the ITER project. Salewski enjoys teaching at the Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels in subjects such as Electromagnetism, Plasma Physics, and Physics of Sports.
