Dr. Mirna Carranza

Biography

Mirna Carranza is a Professor in the Department of Social Work at McMaster University. Her academic interests focus on issues related to human rights, justice, and ethical matters, particularly within the contexts of gender, sexuality, education, migration, and social welfare. With a background in Family Relations and Human Development from the University of Guelph and Theological Studies and Pastoral Counseling from Wilfrid Laurier University, Carranza brings a multidisciplinary perspective to her research and teaching. She has explored topics such as trauma and exploitation, as well as the experiences of women, youth, and children in marginalized communities.
