Dr. Miron Livny

Biography

Miron Livny is a Professor in the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, in 1984. His main research areas include High Throughput Computing, Visual Data Exploration, Experiment Management Environments, and Performance Evaluation. Livny has played a significant role in the development of Condor, a widely used system for high throughput computing that supports distributed resource management. His research group focuses on creating tools for intuitive graphical interaction with large datasets and developing management and scheduling techniques for computing resources. Through collaborative efforts, Livny's research has fostered a robust international community of users and contributors to the Condor project, which supports researchers in various scientific disciplines. He continues to engage in projects that integrate large dataset querying and visual exploration, utilizing frameworks that enhance data analysis tools for practical applications in diverse fields.
