Biography

Miroslaw S. Brys is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at New York University. He completed his residency training and clinical fellowship in neurology with a focus on Movement Disorders. Dr. Brys graduated from the Jagiellonian University School of Medicine in Krakow, Poland, where he also received his Ph.D. in neurological sciences. His Ph.D. dissertation addressed the modulation of cerebral blood flow autoregulation at rest and during physical exercise using transcranial Doppler ultrasound technology. He is a recipient of the prestigious Kosciuszko Foundation grant. Following his residency, he worked as a postdoctoral scientist in the neuroimaging laboratory of Dr. Mony de Leon. Dr. Brys's research interests primarily focus on the identification of early biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases using advanced MRI and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) techniques, as well as the analysis of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). He is also engaged in research applications of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) as a treatment modality for altering brain plasticity in Parkinson's disease.
