Biography

Misako Murata is a licensed Landscape Architect and the co-founder of LMNOP, an architectural and landscape architecture studio located in Brooklyn, New York. She actively seeks to integrate ecological systems into the landscape and the built environment while exploring interdisciplinary opportunities to redefine traditional practices. Misako's firm, LMNOP, is known for its innovative work in architecture and landscape architecture, aiming to challenge and expand the familiar boundaries of these disciplines. She has collaborated with numerous architects and landscape architects, including the firm Young & Ayata, with whom she participated in the Bauhaus Dessau Competition. Prior to founding LMNOP, Misako worked for seven years at Snohetta, where she contributed to several award-winning projects, such as the Square Reconstruction and the Ryerson Student Learning Center, as well as the James B. Hunt Library at North Carolina State University. Her experience includes both large-scale developments and small-scale projects, like the UrbaN-est Housing project and the Edge-Effect Garden installation.
